Study Psychology

When we are children we tend to dream about what we will do as adults. Sometimes we forget the many careers that we dreamt of and choose others. There are children who dream of becoming psychologists. The few who stick to their dreams should follow the right avenues of education and achieve credentials that they can perform in this field. You can study in reputed universities and colleges that offer subjects in the branch you have chosen.

As you study, you should check the courses that are basic and relevant to your degree. Psychology deals with understanding the way human beings behave and react to various situations and the courses you choose should relate to that. There are many areas you can work after you have finished with your study in psychology. Although there are variety courses to choose from, there are those that are foundations and you must study them.

Personal – Professional -Ethical Dilemma – The True Question – “Is There a Resolution?”

I have, and am still, struggling mightily with this particular concern, professionally, personally, and as a parent. My professional roles have varied greatly, as I am or have been: a school psychologist, medical technologist, microbiologist, veteran of the Air Force, school board member, author, parent advocate, doctoral student, museum board member, and the list continues. As a person, I am a mother, wife, sister, daughter, and disabled. You may notice, that I did not mention friend.

The dilemma: Is it appropriate for me, as a person with disabilities, to tell others that if they provide these suggested accommodations, interventions, modifications, social skills training, medical intervention, etc., that a child will magically succeed or be happier, when I know, first hand, there is no truly happy ending for us? This is, and will continue to be, my personal dilemma.

Psychology Education

You can begin to develop a basic understanding of human psychology by attaining some of your psychology education from a vocational school. Undergraduate training is intended as a starting point for those interested in advancing their psychological training to the graduate degree level. Many vocational schools and community colleges will offer beginning-level courses in psychology intended as a first step toward becoming a psychologist.

A scientific discipline, the study of psychology investigates mental processes and behaviors of the human psyche. It can take several years of education, as well as an internship and successful completion of medical school and exams to become a Doctor of Psychology. However, vocational schools offer training at the level of Associate of Arts (AA) and Associate of Science (AS) degrees, allowing the aspiring psychologist to work his or her way up the ladder incrementally, and eventually qualify to enroll in a college-level psychology school. But, let’s not get ahead of ourselves.
